About Shari B. Ellis

Born and raised in Chicago, Shari attended Yale University to study philosophy and psychology. Naturally, she went to work in the film industry. 

Since moving to Los Angeles, she's worked in animation and visual effects for such industry greats as Tim Burton, Disney Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Animation, Netflix, Bento Box Entertainment, Nickelodeon, Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The opportunity to be published in Time magazine brought Shari back to school to study commercial photography. She discovered a love for shaping light and playing with color and texture, as well as a passion for capturing motion, enabling her to combine writing with visual imagery and music.

As co-executive director of Ace Los Angeles, a non-profit 501(c)(3) social, educational, and outreach group for asexuals and aromantics in the greater Los Angeles area, Shari consulted for the character of Todd Chavez on BoJack Horseman and Elijah on Big Mouth, and is available to consult on any projects involving asexual characters.

A Television Academy member, Shari was a fellow of the Producers Guild of America Power of Diversity and inaugural Roadmap Writers LGBTQ+ programs. Shari is an animation producer and writer who most recently associate-produced the highly acclaimed series Iyanu for Lion Forge Entertainment. She is developing animated television comedies for adults, including Fangirl and Armadillos, both of which placed in the CineStory TV Retreat and Fellowship competition.
